Sekuris

Security services in Germany

Guarding, property protection, industrial security and event security for SMEs, industry and public sector — nationwide with §34a-licensed, permanently employed personnel.

Overview

What is a security service?

A security service is a commercial enterprise that provides personnel and security technology to protect buildings, premises, events and individuals. The legal basis in Germany is §34a of the Gewerbeordnung and the Bewachungsverordnung — every deployed officer must complete an IHK certification examination.

Sekuris bundles eight service areas under one roof: stationary guarding, industrial security, construction site security, event security, gatekeeping, patrol service, personal protection and security technology. On request we extend the portfolio with cyber security and security concept design — so you receive integrated protection from one supplier rather than negotiating with three.

Services

Eight building blocks — one protection concept

Each service is bookable independently. In most engagements we combine 2–4 building blocks into a tailored concept — typical combinations are property protection + security technology, industrial security + gatekeeping, or event security + fire safety watch.

Decision guide

Which security service fits my needs?

Three fundamental protection models cover 90% of all use cases. Which fits depends on risk profile, response expectations and budget.

Hybrid

Personnel and technology working together

Pure personnel guarding is expensive and bumps against human limits — an officer cannot be everywhere at once, cannot maintain attention for 12 straight hours, cannot see through walls. Pure security technology, on the other hand, does not respond: a camera films the burglary, a motion detector sounds an alarm — but no one stops the incident on-site.

Hybrid concepts deploy personnel and technology where each is most effective. AI-supported video monitoring filters false alarms from 95% of activations; only real incidents are sent to our 24/7 monitoring centre and to the nearest patrol in parallel. Response times of 8–15 minutes are realistic — faster than police in many regions, at personnel costs typically 30–60% below pure guarding. We design the concept jointly with you — see also our offering on security technology and cyber security.

Selection criteria

How to choose a security service

Seven points to verify before signing a contract. Each one has caused real damages in practice that more diligence would have prevented.

  1. 01

    §34a certification fully documented

Every officer must hold the IHK §34a certification under German guarding law. Have certificates produced before contract signing — for larger assignments this should be standard practice.

  2. 02

    Permanent staff over subcontractors

Permanent employees mean stable personnel throughout the contract, lower fluctuation and traceable qualification. Subcontractor chains obscure responsibility in damage cases.

  3. 03

    Adequate insurance coverage

Minimum €5m for personal/property damage and €1m for financial damage liability should be standard. Have the insurance certificate shown in original — not just "on request".

  4. 04

    Documentation digital and auditable

Shift logs, incident reports and patrol checks should be geo-tagged in an app and cloud-accessible. Paper documentation invites retroactive corrections and is weaker in insurance disputes.

  5. 05

    Response times contractually guaranteed

Alarm response should specify a concrete time (e.g. 15 minutes) in the contract, with sanctions on non-compliance. Vague language like "as fast as possible" is worthless in claims.

  6. 06

Local presence in the operating area

Providers with local personnel have shorter travel on alarms, know regional specifics (urban planning, authorities, traffic) and carry less travel cost in the calculation. HQs 500 km away are a warning sign.

  7. 07

    Industry experience documented

Pharma, logistics, large events, critical infrastructure — each industry has its own compliance, shift and risk patterns. Have concrete references from your industry produced, ideally with a phone contact at the client.

Industries

Industries we serve

Six focus sectors with industry-specific demands. In each we deploy personnel with the relevant supplementary qualifications — works fire brigade training, GxP awareness, crowd management, ISO-27001-compliant documentation.

Cost

What drives security service cost?

Six factors that any serious quote should itemise transparently — at Sekuris you find all of them in the offer.

  • Qualification level

§34a baseline vs. certified industrial security, fire safety watch, personal protection or former special-forces personnel — hourly rates vary by factor 2–4.

  • Shift time and density

Day shifts run cheaper than night and weekend shifts (tariff premiums 25–100%). Density: 1 shift/day vs. 24/7 multi-shift scales linearly.

  • Location and regional tariff

Minimum wage and industry tariff (BDSW) vary by federal state. Major cities with personnel shortages run 10–20% above rural regions.

  • Contract duration

12-month contracts cost 5–10% less than 3-month transition contracts; 36-month contracts another 5–10% below. Predictability is the lever.

  • Security technology share

Hybrid concepts with cameras and alarm monitoring reduce personnel demand 30–60%. Tech investment typically amortises in 18–36 months.

  • Special requirements

Foreign languages, compliance training (GxP, ISO 27001), armed protection, international travel — separate cost items outside the hourly calculation.

Frequently asked questions about security services

What does a security service cover?
A security service combines personnel (guarding, gatekeeping, patrol, event security, personal protection) with documentation and, where needed, security technology. Sekuris bundles these building blocks into a protection concept tailored to your risk profile — from a single gatekeeper to 24/7 guarding of large industrial sites.
What is the difference between security service, guarding and security?
"Security service" (Sicherheitsdienst) is the legal umbrella term under German guarding regulation. "Wachschutz" describes stationary or mobile property guarding more narrowly. "Security" is used colloquially as a synonym — what matters legally is §34a certification, not the label. Sekuris applies all three terms consistently for verifiably qualified staff.
Are all security staff §34a-certified?
Yes. Every Sekuris security officer holds the §34a IHK certification mandated by German guarding law. For specialised assignments (fire safety watch, event manager, personal protection) we add the relevant supplementary qualifications. Certifications are documented in the contract and available on request.
What determines the hourly rate?
Key cost drivers are qualification level (§34a baseline vs. specialised), shift time (day/night/Sunday-holiday), site location and regional wage tariff, contract volume and duration. Long-term contracts with predictable shifts run materially below ad-hoc deployments. We quote transparently — request a concrete offer with your parameters and we respond within one business day.
What contract terms are typical?
Stationary guarding contracts typically run 12–36 months with a three-month notice period. For short-term needs (construction, events, interim guarding) we offer weekly and daily contracts without minimum term. Sekuris keeps commitments flexible: if an assignment falls away due to structural change, we find a fair solution rather than enforce remaining terms.
Does Sekuris offer 24/7 guarding?
Yes. 24/7 guarding is our standard offering for industrial sites, logistics hubs, data centres and critical infrastructure. Shifts are staffed by permanently employed regional personnel — no last-minute fill-ins from subcontractors. Handovers are logged live via our documentation app; clients receive consolidated daily or weekly reports.
What does security service cost per hour?
Hourly rates vary by qualification, location and contract term. For a concrete quote, contact us with your project parameters — we respond within one business day.
How quickly can you start an assignment?
Given regional capacity, we can start within 24 to 72 hours. For peak periods and major events we plan with 4 to 8 weeks lead time.
Do you use subcontractors?
We work predominantly with permanent employees. For large contracts or regional peaks, we cooperate with selected partners working to the same standards — communicated transparently in the offer.
What is the difference between industrial security and property protection?
Property protection focuses on individual buildings or compact sites — offices, warehouses, data centres. Industrial security covers larger industrial sites with works fire brigades, shift logistics for hundreds of employees and production interfaces. Both follow the same §34a standard but differ in headcount, shift complexity and integration with operations.
